Turning Units into Homes: How ECHO’s My Home Donation Center Builds Stability and Hope

Turning Units into Homes: How ECHO’s My Home Donation Center Builds Stability and Hope my home donation centerAt ECHO, we know that housing is more than just four walls and a roof—it’s the foundation of stability, security, and a brighter future. But to truly make a housing unit feel like home, it needs more than structure; it needs warmth, comfort, and the essentials that create a sense of belonging. That’s where ECHO’s My Home Donation Center comes in.

Led by the incredible Joyce Foster and powered by a dedicated team of volunteers, the My Home Donation Center is an essential part of our mission to break the cycles of homelessness. The center collects and distributes furniture, bedding, kitchenware, and other household essentials to individuals and families moving into affordable housing units. For those who’ve faced the uncertainty and trauma of homelessness, walking into a home furnished with care offers not just comfort, but also a crucial step toward rebuilding their lives.

“Having a space that feels like home is key to long-term housing stability,” Joyce explains. “When people feel settled and supported, they’re more likely to thrive and maintain their housing.”

Since its inception, the donation center has helped countless families transform their new housing into spaces they can truly call home. Each piece of furniture, every set of dishes, and all the small details make a big difference in fostering stability and creating a sense of pride and ownership.

However, the need continues to grow. As more people transition from homelessness into permanent housing, ECHO’s My Home Donation Center is in constant need of community support. Donations of gently used furniture, linens, and household items are always welcome, and monetary contributions help us fill in the gaps for items we can’t collect.

By giving to the Donation Center, you’re not just providing furniture—you’re giving families the tools they need to succeed in their housing journey. A furnished home isn’t just more comfortable; it’s a catalyst for stability, healing, and a fresh start.

Want to help? Donations can be dropped off at the ECHO Donation Center, and we’re always looking for volunteers to help sort, organize, and distribute items. Together, we can ensure that every individual and family has a home filled with comfort and hope.
