6/26/33 to 12/19/22
On the afternoon of December 19th, 2022, Albert M. Nardslico (Big Al), departed “for home” at the age of 89 from natural causes. Albert was born on June 26th, 1933, in Scranton, PA, to Albert Nardslico Sr. and Lucia Marabella. Early on, Albert was forced to rise up and meet the challenges of life, accepting a paper route at the age of 10 to help pay for food and other family essentials. Later, he served honorably in the United States Air Force as a cook and firefighter and retired from the service as a Service-Disabled Veteran. Al put his heart into everything he did, including his home-cooked Italian meals, which warmed the hearts of many families, communities, and servicemembers throughout his incredible life.
He married the love of his life, Grace Chickillo, in 1959, and together they raised four children in Rome, NY. He is survived by his wife Grace, his four children and spouses Maryanne & Dan Patane, Albert Jr & Terri Nardslico, Donna & Dan Ripa, and Robert & Diane Nardslico, and his grandchildren Carly & Max, AJ & Chelsea, Danielle, Nicholas, Maria, Alaina, Dominick, Anna, Alyssa, Natalie, William, as well as many nieces and nephews whom he loved deeply. The reception will be held at the Church of St. John the Baptist in Rome, NY, on January 6th, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. with a funeral mass to follow at 12:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are made to NardMoor Veterans Home.
