Major became homeless for the first time when his family home was condemned after a devastating house fire. The 65-year-old Veteran had lived in the home most of his life, and had nowhere else to go…so he slept outside of the burned-down property for almost a month before coming to ECHO for assistance.
ECHO’s Veteran Services team immediately arranged an emergency short-term solution to get Major safely indoors, while permanent housing was identified and secured. In less than a week, Major was moved out of homelessness back into a home of his own.
Major is grateful to have a new place to call home, and is ready to start rebuilding his life. ECHO will continue to provide the Veteran with the supportive services he needs to achieve long-term housing stability.
