Jim and his girlfriend Jessica came to ECHO September 20, 2017 without jobs and homeless. The two of them along with their three children had been homeless for 3 years.
ECHO provided housing for the family and with their family now safe in a stable environment, Jessica completed the minimal amount of education she still required in order to begin a nursing career. This allowed her to quickly find a job and just like that her family once again had a source of income. Jim is currently taking classes to enable him to enter the work force in a job more suitable to his condition. The family has secured a dependable vehicle and the two school age children are enrolled and doing well. This family is striving to get out of debt and become home owners. We enjoy meeting with them and finding out more about their continued success. They just needed a “hand-up” from ECHO and other agencies in the community to get their family back on track.
All ECHO offices are closed to the public until further notice out of caution due to COVID-19.
We are committed to supporting our community responsibly, and will continue providing as many services as possible remotely.
If you’re already receiving services, all Housing Case Managers will be available during regular office hours to provide support by telephone.
If you are experiencing homelessness or are in danger of becoming homeless, please go to echousing.org/get-help or call our main office at 843-213-1798 to schedule a phone assessment.
More information about COVID-19, including prevention and treatment, can be obtained from the CDC COVID-19 Website and the SC DHEC Website.
Thank you for your understanding and flexibility as we work through these extraordinary challenges together.
